10 Siamese Crocodiles Released into the Siem Pang Wildlife Sanctuary on August 13th, 2024.

In a groundbreaking conservation effort, Angkor Wildlife & Aquarium and Rising Phoenix have successfully released 10 adult Siamese crocodiles into the Western Siem Pang Wildlife Sanctuary. This significant achievement enhances local populations and underscores our commitment to saving this nearly extinct species.

As part of our ongoing mission to conserve the endangered Siamese crocodile (Crocodylus siamensis), Angkor Wildlife & Aquarium has partnered with Rising Phoenix for an exciting development. We’ve just completed another successful release of 10 adult Siamese crocodiles into the Western Siem Pang Wildlife Sanctuary!

After months of meticulous planning and preparation, these remarkable reptiles were transported under the cover of night to ensure their safe arrival.  The journey posed significant challenges, including treacherous roads and high waters. However, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Rising Phoenix team and our own AWA staff, the crocodiles arrived safely at 8 a.m. and were released into their new home.

This release is a crucial step in bolstering the local population and builds upon the success of our 2023 release. To date, we have successfully released 61 adult Siamese crocodiles into the wild, reinforcing our unwavering commitment to the preservation of this once-nearly-extinct species.
